　TOKYO—April 8, 2010—NetSTAR, Inc., Japan’s premier developer of URL filtering product technologies and services, today announced that it has developed and improved its URL list distribution system to enhance the readiness of its anti-spam systems and the filtering of virus transmitters and other harmful sites. The instantaneous delivery of these lists is now possible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is the final stage of a systematic improvement of NetSTAR’s list creation infrastructure announced in 2009.

　This advance will counter the continuous threat posed by fraudulent sites such as phishing and one-click fraud sites, and those with illegal code that transmit viruses or spam. To increase the availability of its URL lists to combat these dangers, NetSTAR has been working to improve and expand the collection and recording process of these URL lists through measures such as the widening of its user feedback channels and the expansion of the master database system itself.
　In order to provide customers with these benefits more quickly, NetSTAR has newly developed the URL list creation and delivery system that provides users of filtering services with updated URL lists in as little as five minutes, and with new, tailored URL lists at any time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

　As of March 2010, NetSTAR’s URL lists contain assessment information for over 250 million Web sites.
　NetSTAR’s new delivery system provides faster feedback from users about new harmful sites or spam, and all filtering systems and services, and anti-spam services, are much more complete, up-to-date, and accurate. For products and services which tailor lists to each category, and for which instantaneous delivery is particularly important, it is also possible to deliver individual lists for each category. In addition, up until now NetSTAR had only expanded its URL list delivery into the Chinese market, as China has a comparatively small time difference to Japan, but now it is possible to tailor delivery to any country or region, regardless of time difference.
　This expansion will not affect filtering products or services that use NetSTAR’s URL lists in customers’ homes or businesses. NetSTAR plans to release separate guides for each product and service.

　NetSTAR responds actively to changes in societal conditions and Internet usage trends: for example, NetSTAR was the first in its field to work on user risk assessment for community sites. This expansion of the list delivery infrastructure is another such response. NetSTAR will continue to develop technology and research to produce more URL lists and related products and services that are easier to use and more reliable.
