Small and Medium Enterprise Filtering Service, Site Umpire, Now Compatible with Yamaha's RT58i Router

- Five-year service license and router sold as a set -

TOKYO January 13, 2010

TOKYO—January 13, 2010—NetSTAR, Inc., Japan’s premier developer of URL filtering product technologies and services, today announced that its filtering service for small and medium enterprises, Site Umpire, is now compatible with Yamaha Inc.'s broadband VoIP router RT58i. In addition, NetSTAR today began sales of a new package that includes the RT58i router and Site Umpire with a five-year license.

Site Umpire is a filtering service for small and medium enterprises that runs on the corporate router and that NetSTAR has been selling since 2007. Compared with other products that require software installation or that run on a server, Site Umpire has lower startup costs, fewer server settings, and less administrative overhead. Thus it is ideal for small and medium enterprises that are just introducing monitoring of employee Internet use, and it is even being adopted by medium to large enterprises for use in regional offices..

The RT58i is a multi-function broadband VoIP router that went on sale in 2006 and is widely used by small and medium enterprises. Thanks to a firmware upgrade on January 13, the RT58i can now be used with Site Umpire. Using Site Umpire with the RT58i, the number of categories being filtered increases from 71 to 76, allowing for more flexible filtering configurations. Small and medium enterprises that are concerned about Internet misuse on the job by employees and virus infections via the Internet, but want to keep costs down, can use existing routers and implement filtering at very little cost with this package.

On January 13, NetSTAR will begin selling 5-year licenses with the newly upgraded RT58i. Customers who are introducing filtering for the first time can choose this package and avoid firmware upgrades, which is a more economical approach to introducing Site Umpire than purchasing a license only.
RT58i firmware upgrades for Site Umpire compatibility is available for download free of charge from the NetSTAR website. For details on the Site Umpire compatible firmware, see Site Umpire at the following URL.
