TOKYO July 6, 2009
TOKYO—July 6, 2009—NetSTAR, Inc., Japan’s premier developer of URL filtering product technologies and services, today announced the July 7 release of ICT Sensor, a cloud-computing managed service for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that increases IT resource efficiency and includes robust Internet usage management features. NetSTAR expects to have contracts with 2,000 companies comprising 100,000 computers within the next three years.
Today, a computer connected to the Internet is an integral part of the work process in many enterprises, and the proper management of these resources has a large effect on the overall efficiency and productivity of the business as a whole. However, many SMEs are not able to hire an expert system administrator to manage these resources, making it difficult to monitor their use or remedy the barriers to higher efficiency. This problem is not limited to SMEs but is also shared by the divisions and branch offices of large corporations.
To help improve efficiency and productivity while reducing costs for the SMEs facing this situation, NetSTAR is providing this service as a cloud-computing based managed service that is easy to install and allows the customer to easily visualize computer usage without a system administrator on staff.
Installation is as simple as attaching a small sensor terminal to the existing LAN. As a managed service, NetSTAR provides comprehensive support, from server administration to operational startup, and with no software to install on individual computers, there is no risk of software conflicts or increased burden on system resources.
ICT Sensor has an array of features that are useful for asset management (monitoring hardware and software use on each computer) and process management (monitoring computer performance, process status, and security measures). In addition, it comes with an Internet usage monitoring feature that informs management about Internet usage content and trends. Each of these features can produce a number of reports and alerts for quick action, thus improving use of IT resources and lowering costs for the entire company.
ICT Sensor fees are as follows (prices do not include tax): Initial fee starts at 96,000 yen, monthly fees start at 14,000 yen (for 10 users). All the necessary equipment is provided on a rental basis, so there is no capital investment or administration costs. ICT Sensor was developed through a technology tie-up between of NetSTAR and So-Ten Inc. announced in May 2008. NetSTAR will continue to collaborate with various partners in an effort to provide the global community with safe Internet access across a wide variety of platforms.
