NetSTAR Speaks to the Toyama ISP Liaison Committee
- Presentation covers the applications of URL filtering to youth development and the Internet environment -
TOKYO May 19, 2009
TOKYO—May 19, 2009—NetSTAR, Inc., Japan’s premier developer of URL filtering product technologies and services, today announced that it will speak on the topic of URL filtering to a meeting conducted by the Toyama Internet Service Providers Liaison Committee on May 25, 2009.
The Toyama Internet Service Providers Liaison Committee membership consists of representatives of all the Internet service providers in Toyama Prefecture, with advisors from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' Hokuriku Bureau of Telecommunications and the Toyama Prefectural Police Headquarters. The committee is involved with a variety of activities within Toyama Prefecture aimed at preventing Internet related crimes by promoting the proper use of the Internet and disseminating information to help users avoid becoming a victim.
At this meeting, members will hear reports about Internet crime and receive information about new regulations and filtering that will raise their understanding and help with efforts to implement filtering and other measures. The presentation about related regulations will be given by a representative of the Hokuriku Bureau of Telecommunications.
NetSTAR continues to disseminate information through presentations and a dedicated website because we believe it is important to have a proper understanding of filtering applications and their mechanisms. NetSTAR was approached by the committee to speak at this meeting and will discuss the mechanisms of filtering services, URL list creation, and the steps that must be taken to take to apply filtering from the viewpoint of youth development, as well as the challenges we will face in this activity.
NetSTAR will continue to collaborate with municipal governments and NPOs in an effort to provide the global community with safe Internet access across a wide variety of platforms.
