- Presentation discusses filtering mechanisms and issues as an integral part of youth development -

TOKYO May 14, 2009

TOKYO—May 14, 2009—NetSTAR, Inc., Japan’s premier developer of URL filtering product technologies and services, today announced that it will speak on the topic of URL filtering to a study group conducted by the Yamagata Internet Crime Prevention Liaison Committee on May 22, 2009.

The Yamagata Internet Crime Prevention Liaison Committee is a group comprising 13 ISPs operating in Yamagata Prefecture whose goal is to promote the development of the industry and to ensure a safe and secure Internet environment for the people of Yamagata Prefecture.
Responding to the passing of the Internet Control Law in April 2009, the committee organized a study group on the topic of filtering on May 22 for about 100 participants, including the committee members and other groups in the prefecture involved in youth development.
NetSTAR continues to disseminate information through presentations and a dedicated website because we believe it is important to have a proper understanding of filtering applications and their mechanisms. NetSTAR was approached by the committee to speak to the study group and will discuss the mechanisms of filtering services, URL list creation, and the steps that must be taken to take to apply filtering from the viewpoint of youth development, as well as the challenges we will face in this activity.

NetSTAR will continue to collaborate with various partners in an effort to provide the global community with safe Internet access across a wide variety of platforms.
