Site Umpire Internet Cafe Edition filtering solution to be support by InterPia’s latest POS system

- Automation of age-based filtering to minimize workload for café staffs -

TOKYO January 29th, 2009

NetSTAR Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Noboru Ogahara; hereinafter “NetSTAR”), the leading company in the Japanese web filtering industry, hereby announces that as of February 2, 2009, its Site Umpire Internet Cafe Edition filtering solution will support C@fe POS, the latest POS system offered by InterPia Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Hitoshi Kusuoka; hereinafter “InterPia”), a provider of various solutions for Internet Cafes.

NetSTAR has been offering its Site Umpire Internet Cafe Edition filtering solution for Internet Cafes since 2008. Unlike previous solutions for Internet Cafe outlets, Site Umpire is designed to run on a router, eliminating the need to install software onto each client terminal, and thereby reducing the operating cost by making periodic software updates unnecessary. Furthermore, the removal of overhead load from the client terminals provides an added benefit to the café guests in the form of improved terminal performance. Site Umpire also minimizes the work load for the café staffs by allowing the filtering level on each terminal to be easily adjusted to suit the café guest, but without the learning curve associated with configuring a router.

InterPia’s C@fe POS is a POS system that has been designed especially for Internet Cafe outlets. Already adopted by over 250 Internet Cafe outlets, C@fe POS is a comprehensive management solution that covers the various aspects of a Internet Cafe operation, including time charging, membership management, and security management. The latest update to C@fe POS offers improved security management, offering added support for NetSTAR’s Site Umpire Internet Cafe Edition. Existing membership data can be used in conjunction with Site Umpire to automatically adjust the filtering level according to the member’s age. This automation will reduce the work load for the café staff, as well as ensure that filtering is properly implemented for minors.

Existing users of C@fe POS may update their system for compatibility with Site Umpire Internet Cafe Edition. Please contact InterPia for further details.

NetSTAR will continue to collaborate with various partners in an effort to provide the global community with safe Internet access across a wide variety of platforms.

NetSTAR will be responsible for the ongoing collection, categorization, and delivery of the URL list used for the filtering service, while InterPia will be responsible for the sales and support of the solution.
