NetSTAR to deliver a lecture for Oita Prefectural High School PTA Union

- First model lecture by the “Research Panel on Internet Use by Children”

TOKYO November 18th, 2008

NetSTAR, Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Noboru Ogahara; hereinafter “NetSTAR”), a developer of URL filtering product technologies and services, also involved in the collection, categorization, and delivery of URL lists, will be delivering a lecture for parents on the risks of Internet usage by children, at the "High School PTA Union Meeting 2008” to be held by the Oita Prefectural High School PTA Union on November 24, 2008.
The lecture will be the first in the series of lectures jointly produced by the “Research Panel on Internet Use by Children” (Chairman: Akira Sakamoto, Professor, Ochanomizu University) and the National Federation of High School Parent-Teacher Associations, and will be followed by lectures in all 9 regional blocks of Japan. We are expecting many visitors at the “Research Panel on Internet Use by Children: Kyushu Conference,” not only from within the Oita prefecture, but from the entire Kyushu region.

As a leading vendor of filtering products and services in the Japanese market, NetSTAR provides its offerings to various businesses, and is also the only vendor providing URL lists to all mobile phone operators in Japan.
In April 2008, NetSTAR co-founded the “Research Panel on Internet Use by Children” with Yahoo! JAPAN, so as to conduct professional research and investigation on the establishment of a risk assessment standard for interactive websites, as well as to develop educational material for parents.
The research panel believes that feedback from the parents is essential for the improvement of the risk education material. The research panel and the National Federation of High School Parent-Teacher Associations will be hosting a series of model lectures around the nation, so that parents can experience and give feedback on the current education material.

The upcoming conference in the Kyushu region will be the first in the series. NetSTAR will present a 90-minute session based on a model curriculum, as a lecture entitled “The true risks in mobile phone usage by our children: What you should be aware of as parents,” and will also partake in the panel discussion.
