NetSTAR Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Noboru Ogahara; hereinafter “NetSTAR”), the leading company in the Japanese web filtering industry, hereby announces its participation in the “Forum on Life with Mobile Phones and the Internet,” to be held in Tottori on August 24.

Since 2005, Tottori prefecture has been hosting the “Forum on Life with the Media” to improve the interaction between the children and the media. This year, they will be hosting the “Forum on Life with Mobile Phones and the Internet” on August 24. The forum will take place in Yonago, and aims to enlighten parents and educators on the emerging issues surrounding Internet use by the youth, in particular via their mobile phones.
As a leading vendor in the domestic filtering market, NetSTAR provides technology to business filtering products/services, including filtering services provided by mobile phone operators. With its involvement in the mobile phone industry dating back to 2005, when its URL list was adopted by NTT DoCoMo’s “Kid’s i-mode” (now “i-mode Filter”), NetSTAR is currently the only vender that provides URL lists to all mobile phone operators in Japan.
Under the belief that widespread adoption of filtering services cannot be accomplished without proper education of the underlying workings, NetSTAR has continued to provide information on filtering services through seminars and websites. At the upcoming forum, NetSTAR will set up a booth at which visitors can learn and experience the workings of mobile web filtering services, as well as learn about how URL lists are actually made.
