Site Umpire Complex Café Edition filtering solution adopted by nationwide complex café chain
-NetSTAR joins JCCA for an increased effort in the complex café market-
TOKYO August 19th, 2008
NetSTAR Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Noboru Ogahara; hereinafter “NetSTAR”), the leading company in the Japanese web filtering industry, hereby announces the adoption of its Site Umpire Complex Café Edition filtering solution by all 37 outlets of Media Complex Space wip, a nationwide complex café chain operated by Monteroza, Inc. (Headquarters: Musashino-shi, Tokyo; CEO: Teruhiro Ogami).
The complex café market, valued at 222.7 billion yen (2,849 outlets) as of February 2007, is currently maintaining a steady growth, and is expected to reach 366.4 billion yen (4,105 outlets) by 2015*. On the other hand, juvenile misuse and crime threats are gaining attention as an emerging issue surrounding the Internet, resulting in an increased demand by the “Bill on the Improvement of the Environment for the Safe Use of the Internet by Children” and other juvenile protection ordinances for the adoption of filtering services by complex café outlets. Consequently, more and more complex café outlets, under the guidance of Japan Complex Café Association (hereinafter “JCCA”), are actively adopting filtering solutions.
In 2007, NetSTAR released its Site Umpire Complex Café Edition filtering solution, providing to complex café outlets its Site Umpire filtering service and Site Umpire Selector management application in a single package. Unlike previous solutions for complex café outlets, Site Umpire is designed to run on a router. This design eliminates the need to install software onto each client terminal, thereby reducing the operating cost by making periodic software updates unnecessary. Furthermore, the removal of overhead load from the client terminals provides an added benefit to the users in the form of improved terminal performance. Site Umpire Selector minimizes the burden on the staff by allowing them to easily customize the filtering level according to the usage trend of the customers, but without the learning curve associated with configuring a router.
NetSTAR is proud to announce that Site Umpire Complex Café Edition, already favored by almost 100 complex café outlets across the nation, has been newly adopted by Media Complex Space wip, a complex café chain operated by a major food business, Monteroza. The filtering solution will be installed at all 37 wip locations, starting with the installation at wip Mitaka Station North Exit branch in early August.
NetSTAR would also like to announce that it is now a member of JCCA. NetSTAR, together with its distributing partner Interpia, will work to reinforce its presence in the complex café market, and aim for a majority market share and an annual sales of 200 million yen.
