NetSTAR Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Noboru Ogahara; hereinafter “NetSTAR”), the leading company in the Japanese web filtering industry, hereby announces the upcoming availability of its Site Umpire filtering service for the FutureNet XR-540/C router, provided to small & medium businesses by Century Systems Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Musashino-shi, Tokyo; CEO: Susumu Tanaka; hereinafter “Century Systems”). The service will be available on September 8.

NetSTAR has been offering its Site Umpire filtering service to small & medium businesses since 2007. Design to run on a business router, Site Umpire greatly reduces the cost associated with the installation and operation of a gateway server, which has previously been a prerequisite for URL filtering services.
As of on September 8, Site Umpire will be available for Century Systems FutureNet XR-540/C routers in addition to the previously supported lineup of Yamaha routers.

The offering will complement the firewall and other security features of FutureNet XR-540/C with a full-fledged URL filtering service for added protection against malicious code and information leakage, and better yet, without needing to purchase additional hardware. Existing users of FutureNet XR-540/C will also be able to enjoy the benefits of the highly-secure Internet connection by updating the firmware on their router.

In providing the service, NetSTAR will act as the service provider and collect, categorize, and deliver the URL lists, while our distributors and Century Systems sales representative. The user may also subscribe to the service by completing and submitting the application form included with the router.
For the first year, NetSTAR and Century Systems is estimating 100 subscriptions, or approximately 3,000 licenses, with the primary buyers being the small & medium businesses that are existing users of FutureNet XR-540/C.
